#WCW: Dr. Melissa Fana
Woman Crush Wednesday.
We love to celebrate female movers and shakers who are successful locally, nationally, internationally, and most importantly, personally.
This week, we are so excited to highlight Dr. Melissa Fana, a breast surgical oncologist from New York. We asked her to share with us her thoughts on success.
“I think in order to give advice for how to achieve success, the first thing that I would recommend is to define success for you. For me, it meant achieving a level of accomplishment where my voice and actions would affect another individual in a positive manner, even perhaps changing their life for the better. I knew early on that this was ‘success’ for me and that in order to accomplish it I would set goals to become a physician, and more specifically a surgeon. In my journey to achieve success, I had to believe in myself, and that included believing that I could and would attain my goals and that no matter what obstacles arose, or if I failed at something, that I would ‘reset’ my circumstances to try again, and never give up. ”
Dr. Melissa Fana is a Breast Surgical Oncologist from New York City. She attended Mount Sinai School of Medicine and trained in General Surgery at NorthWell, on Long Island. She then completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at Beaumont, Michigan. Today she practices in Suffolk County, New York.
